Stop Memorizing. Start Seeing the Fretboard.
A simple, analog approach for guitarists who know scales—but can’t connect them into real music.
About The FretDeck
Most guitarists don’t struggle because they lack discipline.
They struggle because the fretboard was never shown to them as a system.
FretDeck™ turns scales, chords, and positions into something you can hold in your hands, move around, and connect—without staring at screens or memorizing diagrams.
Inside the deck, you’ll find every major and minor pentatonic shape, modes, and chord connections—organized so the neck finally makes sense.
I don’t believe you can learn guitar while distracted.
YouTube, feeds, and endless lessons train attention away from the instrument.
My tools are intentionally simple, quiet, and focused — inspired by analog practice in a digital world.
No scrolling. No autoplay.
Just clear prompts, visual clarity, and time spent actually playing the guitar.
About the author.
Hello and welcome! My name is Justin and helping people learn the guitar is my passion. In 2015 we created a product called FretDeck and launched it on Kickstarter in 2016. It was a successful campaign reaching thousands of aspiring guitar players, giving them a brand new view into the fretboard. From the young age of 11 I have been obsessively immersed in the techniques and theory used by legendary guitarists. From the precise tapping of Eddie Van Halen and the head banging chord progressions of AC/DC’s Angus Young, to the soulful power of BB King and the rapid fire solos of Stevie Ray Vaughan.
I have meticulously investigated the best of the best at the top of their guitar game. Today more than two decades later, my work with guitar and music theory has taken me to studios, stages, universities, podcasts and more.
